Superfluous talking is always a sign that you're trying to sell yourself, to cover up your poverty by using others, making them think you're important, or proving to yourself you're lovable. "Dirty mouth" is a popular expression and it's right, because so often your mouths are dirty! Don't try to convince yourself how loving you are. Be on your guard against being "charitable" - with quotes. Of course I can hear you saying, am I supposed not to talk at all? You should talk insofar as it is necessary. Well, how do you know how much is necessary? Be quiet and stay with Jesus and you’ll know how much is necessary; don't make problems out of it. But if you abandon yourself to that lust of oral fornication you won't know how much is necessary. And I want you to realize that this is a betrayal of what I have been teaching you.
You can use your mouth either to praise God or to seduce your neighbor and draw him to yourself. I also think that you should have the guts to tell each other, you're talking too much, who are you trying to impress? because we depend on one another. Remember, the point of keeping silence here in the morning is to form the image for the rest of the day. "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."(Mt 12:34) If the abundance of your heart is your self love, your mouth will speak of that.
You should examine your conscience because if you think you're going to Jesus when you don't have any sense of sin, you're not really going to Him. Remember, He said, "Ask and you shall receive."(Mt 7:7; Lk 11:9) Instead of talking so much to make yourself feel innocent, spend some time during the day contemplating what a monster you are, because a sinner isn't someone who sins; a sinner is someone who loves sin. If you don't convince yourself you have sinned, Jesus can't come to you, because He came to save sinners.(Mt 9:13) If you're filled with your own innocence, it is as though you had committed adultery; you don't need a husband and you already have a lover: yourself.
When you talk so much you try to get away from the burden of your guilt and you realize you're bored with Jesus because He is bored with you. The next time you come to Jesus you might not experience His consolation, because He wants you to grow in His divine life. If you have been going around all day selling yourself to others, you won't know how to handle that either.
Examining your conscience is convincing yourself you're dirty right down to the bone and that you love sin. Then go to Jesus as a sinner and realize that without His love you can't even say His name; and don't be a slob demanding a lot of feelings. This is like anything else; if you don't do the job right it won't be done. And this job is going to Jesus as a sinner who loves sin.
So summing it up, keep your mouth shut, convince yourself you're a sinner and be quiet. Believe that Jesus loves you in faith and His divine life will grow in you. He wants you to grow in charily through faith, so if you believe in your heart you love sin, you go to Him and believe that He loves you, and then He will be able to console you. If you don't do this, don't fool yourself that you're my disciple, because you're not.
