Then Jesus took Peter, James, and J& to the top of a mountain to pray. As He prayed, He changed before them: His face shone like the sun and His clothes became shining white like new snow.
Suddenly there were two men there talking to Him: Moses and Elijah. They were talking with Jesus about His death in Jerusalem.
Peter said, "Lord, let us build here three booths" - such as the Jews were accustomed to build for the Feast of Tabernacles, the feast of the Messianic Kingdom to come - "for You and Moses and Elijah." He did not know what to say, because they were awestruck.
Suddenly a shining cloud hid everything. A Voice from the cloud said, "This is My beloved Son: hear Him."
The apostles collapsed in fear. But in a moment they felt Jesus touch them and they looked up. "Do not be afraid," He said, "and tell no one what you saw, until I have risen from the dead."
