After His Resurrection from the dead, Jesus showed Himself alive to the apostles He had chosen through the Holy Spirit. For forty days He continued to appear to them and to tell them about the Kingdom of God. When He was eating with them, He told them, "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait there for what the Father has promised. It is what I have been telling you about: John baptized with water, but you will soon be baptized with the Holy Spirit. You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. Then you will be My witnesses even to the ends of the earth."
When He had led them out to the Mount of Olives, He lifted up His hands and blessed them. While He was blessing them, He was lifted up from them, and carried up into heaven.
A cloud took Him from their sight. They were still staring into the sky when suddenly two men in white were standing near them. They said, "Why are you standing here looking into the sky?
Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen Him go there."
